In addition to announcing the latest iPhone series, at a
major event today Apple also presents a new iPad entry-level.
Compared to last year's iPad, this 7th generation iPad
carries a wider screen but is offered at the same fixed price.
The Tablet is the successor to the iPad that slides in March
2018 with a 9.7-inch display costing $329 (~ rp4 6 million), which is
apparently the best-selling iPad of the entire Apple tablet line (60% of
shoppers).
The latest iPad tablets have a wider Retina display of 10.2
inches with nearly 3.5 million pixels.
The device is backed by the same A10 Fusion chip as its
predecessor, and even the exact same price: $329 for the general public and
$299 (~ rp4 2 million) for educational customers.
People can already order it today in the US and 25 other
countries will be available on September 30th.
The new IPad supports Apple Pencil and also has a Smart
Connector, so users can pair it with an Apple Smart Keyboard that can be folded
into a case for closing the tablet.
The Tablet weighs about one pound and the casing is made of
100% recycled aluminum. The device runs iPadOS, with better multitasking,
floating keyboards, access SD cards in the Files app, and a new enhanced video
editor in the Photos app.
In the US, buying a new iPad will get Apple TV + free for
one year, and tablets also support the newly introduced Apple Arcade game
subscription service.
The new IPad is offered in silver, space grey, and gold
colors with 32GB or 128GB of storage. There is a Wi-Fi + cellular model too,
which is sold starting at a price of $459 (~ rp6, 4 million).
